EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT! AMIS GETS NEW AP!
That's right, folks! AMIS has a new AP in the office this year! Lets hear it for Mr. Dalton!
*insert wild applause here*
Here's a transcript of the interview in which our mysterious masked AMIS Reporter (AR) tries to throw Mr. D off with a series of random and seemingly unrelated questions... enjoy!
AR: So, Mr. D, how are you doing today?
Mr. D: Great, thanks! Um, where did you come from?
AR: I came from the door, of course! Welcome to AMIS! We are glad to have you... I thought we could help the AMIS family get to know you by having a little interview. Does that sound ok?
Mr. D: Sure! That sounds fun!
AR: So, Mr. D,to start off, tell me about your educational background... where did you go to school?
Mr. D: Well, Miss Reporter, I grew up in Cincy- in Clifton and then in the West Side. I went to kindergarten at Vine Elementary, then to St. George, St. Jude, and then to Elder High School. I went to Mount St. Joe's and got my degree in elementary ed., and then I got my masters' from UC!
AR: Wow! That's a lot of education! Very cool! So where did you teach before you came to AMIS?
Mr. D: I have taught at Quebec Heights CAMAS, Bond Hill and Crest Hills (a year round school), I was an AP At Finnytown Middle School, and a principal at Rothenburg and West Side Montessori. I have 20 years of education experience total!
AR: WOW that's a long time, Mr. D!
Mr. D: Um... thanks?
AR: Here's a question for ya; what's your favorite cartoon?
Mr. D: I would have to say... the Flintstones, Popey, and Droopy!
AR: Droopy? Is that the little dog with the long face? He's so cute!
Mr. D: Yes... what does this question have to do with education?
AR: The people want to know Mr. D, I'm just asking the questions that the people want to know! :-) Ok moving on, tell us about your family!
Mr. D: I have a lovely wife named Julie who is a computer analyst-
AR: Ooooh she must be smart!
Mr. D: Yea! I have a 5th grade son who is pretty cool... and we have two Yorkies named Sammy and Ellie.
AR: That sounds like a great family! What is your favorite movie?
Mr. D: Monsters Incorperated. Great movie!
AR: Good pick!
Mr. D: Yea, I like it!
AR: Speaking of teaching, what is your favorite subject to teach?
Mr. D: ... what does Monsters Inc. have to do with teaching?
AR: Hey now, I'm asking the questions here, Mr. D!
Mr. D: Right, sorry! My favorite subject to teach would have to be math and science, because I like to do hands-on learning. As a student, that is how I learn the best, so I enjoy teaching that way. I think that students learn best when they get to experience things for themselves!
AR: I couldn't a gree more!
AR: What is your favorite children's book?
Mr. D: I really like The True Story of the Three Little Pigs!
AR: What is your favorite recess game?
Mr. D: Tether ball!
AR: I think some of our smaller readers will have to Google that!
Mr. D: True, true! I also like four-square!
AR: Speaking of art, what is your favorite color?
Mr. D: Well, I don't know what four-square has to do with art, but if the people want to know... my favorite color is blue!
AR: Mine too! Ok, Mr. D, one last question... Why does AMIS totally ROCK!!?
Mr. D: AMIS is awesome!! There a three languages spoken here and it creates respect for culture and diversity. AMIS brings people together in a way that other schools don't.
AR: Couldn't have said it better myself, Mr. D! Thanks for your time today! I hope I'll see you around in the halls this year!
Mr. D: You are welcome, and you will see me around! By the way, who are you, Masked Reporter? Hey... where did she go?!
There you have it, folks! Our very first random interview with our new AP! He and Mr. Ealy are cooking up new ideas as we speak, and it looks like this will be a great year!!
